Microtransactions in Destiny

I know this post is a bit late but with SRL just around the corner in Destiny, I felt that I needed to make a post about this.
When the Festival of the Lost trailer for Destiny first came out, I was honestly extremely excited. Not only is Halloween one of my favorite times of the year but also the event looked extremely fun was going to be MY first Festival of the Lost event ever in Destiny. Destiny is a game I play quite often and since I had not participated in the previous Festival of the Lost event I was really looking forward to this one.

So as a first time participant in the FOTL 2016 event in Destiny, everything was “new” to me, including all the new items and masks introduced in the trailer such as the lost prince mask, S-35 Jealousy Sparrow as well as the awesome new Ghost-ghost. Even the older masks from last year were still technically ‘new’ to me.

When the Festival of the Lost trailer was first released, there was ONE thing that stood out to me the most. All of the new items introduced seemed really cool but this one item caught my attention instantly and I knew I wanted it. The problem was I had no idea what was in store for me as the item in question was in fact the Ghost Ghost.

Now since I had never participated in the previous Festival of the Lost event in Destiny, my assumption was that these novelty Halloween items would be available through in game activities such as Strikes, Crucible, trials and so on. I couldn’t have been further from the truth. I would have been ok with the drop rates being abysmal even as long I could grind it out to eventually and get the Ghost Ghost. An event of a similar nature that I remembered was the valentine’s day Crimson Doubles event, where there were 2 exclusive ghosts and the drop rate was so abysmal that Bungie eventually decided to give everyone at least ONE free ghost as long as they at least participated in the event, which I thought was extremely cool.

This time around however, this doesn’t seem to be the case AT ALL. In fact things couldn’t be any worse. Not only are these cool items not available as rewards or random drops, even worse they are stored behind a pay wall.

Now mind you this isn’t ALL the items from the event as you can actually get a whole bunch of stuff from completing special quests. There is actually quite a bit of stuff you CAN get absolutely for free, just for playing the game. You can get 6 free masks, 4 shaders, 2 emblems and a limited use broom sparrow which I think is EXTREMLY cool and Bungie should really consider making it permanent addition to the game. So for someone like me who has never done a festival of the lost event previously, all that stuff for free is actually not bad. And to top it off you get the chance of getting up to 3 Free Festival of the Lost Mystery bags, which contain some of the newer masks, consumables as well as the novelty items such as the ghost-ghsot, deviled ghost and jealousy sparrow. Comparing it to last year, where you only got ONE free box, this year you technically get 3 times the loot for free.
The problem with all of this is that for players who are NOT new to the festival of the lost, there isn’t much new stuff to get for free. I think there is only ONE new mask as part of the free quests, the rest of the new masks come from the loot boxes and even then they are mixed in with some of the older masks from last year which is another problem in itself.

But I think the BIGGEST problem with the Festival of the Lost this year is that the drop rates for some of the novelty items are so abysmal that it makes it near impossible to obtain any of the cool new items purely from the 3 free boxes alone. Obviously there are exceptions to this rule and maybe people even got the firewolf mask from their FIRST box which is crazy good luck. But the majority of players have not been so lucky, with many people having to spend upwards of $40 just to obtain everything they wanted from the boxes. THAT to me seems a bit excessive. The abysmal drop rates made it seem as though Bungie/Activision were really encouraging players to buy additional boxes because they couldn’t get what they wanted.

I am just going to come out and say that I personally don’t have a problem with micro-transactions in Destiny as most of the items available for purchase are purely cosmetic. That isn’t to say that there ISN’T a problem concerning micro-transactions. I really don’t mind if people spend money for ingame cosmetic items because at the end of the day that money is just going to the devs to help support the game even more. My problem is when we are essentially paying FOR RNG and you are basically playing the slot machine with your hard earned money. I understand having RNG as part of natural gameplay but implementing it into a paying experience of the game is scummy move. Add to that, the actual drop rates for the items and you now have an extremely toxic system in place.

When Bungie first introduced treasure boxes to the Eververse Store it seemed ok and I mentioned in one of my other posts that as long as the items available were mostly cosmetic and that players could obtain these boxes with natural gameplay it wouldn’t be a problem and that was the case with the April Update. You could earn 3 Treasure boxes on a weekly basis without having to spend a single cent on the Store. Now if you WISHED to get additonal boxes at a faster rate and buy them, that was totally up to you, but at least there were multiple ways in which you could also obtain these items ingame in recurring weekly events. This was NOT the case with the Festival of the Lost Mystery boxes where you can only earn a total of 3, IF you had three characters. The quest didn’t even reset on the second week of the event, which wouldn’t be bad if the drop rates for the novelty items wasn’t so bad to being with.

I wouldn’t have minded the same drop rates if at LEAST the items were rewards for activities in Destiny. Activities such as how we obtained the trials emblem or the candlelight Shader. I think those items were placed in extremely well. I would have no problem trying to grind out the activities in order to get the item I wanted, but the way it was implemented all but guaranteed that I would have to pay for the items I wanted.

I think going forward Bungie as well as Activision really need to re-evaluate how these future events will be implemented. The trailer made it seem like I would be able to do multiple quests to get various items when in fact there were really only 2 quests that I could do only a total of 3 times(once on each character), which is absolutely strange considering Bungie made this a 2 WEEK event. The quests only took me about an hour on each character, that’s a total of 3 hours of gameplay, and then what? What if I didn’t get the items I wanted from those 3 boxes? I now have to pay for them? Fine but EVEN AFTER paying, I’m not guaranteed to get the items? I think that’s taking it a bit far.
I ended up opening 4 Festival of the Lost boxes on the first week, my three free ones from the quest, as well as one more that I bought with my free silver from Taken King. And while I did get luckier than most in those 4 FOTL boxes that I opened, I still didn’t get the one item I really wanted. Part of me wanted to spend a bit more on boxes JUST to see if I can get it and the other part of me wanted to boycott the whole thing. Below is a video of me opening my 4 boxes.

Let me know your thoughts on the Festival of the Lost 2016 for Destiny, if you guys spent silver, or got anything cool or didn’t get some of the items you wanted. Also what can Bungie do differently for future events such as the Sparrow Racing League coming up soon.

New Penalties in FIFA 17

Fifa 17 is set to be released soon and with it, the game brings a whole host of changes. One of the BIGGEST changes to the game this year in Fifa 17 is Penalty Kicks.EA has done a complete overhaul on the penalty shooting system, whether that is penalties during games or a penalty shootout.

There are 3 Main mechanics for Penalty kicks in Fifa 17:

Run up TO the ball – EA has added the ability for the player to control the direction/angle in which the free kick taker can run up to the ball, thus adding new ways to take penalties just based on the angle you strike the ball at. You can adjust the run position before you move to take the kick by using the “Right Analog stick” on both the PS4 and XBOX ONE.

Run initiation and direction – You have to push the left stick up a bit to “imitate” or “start” your run up to the ball. You ALSO use the “Left Analog Stick” to control the direction of the ball WHILE you are running towards it to kick it.

Unlike the previous Fifa, you just tap the left stick in a certain direction and leave it be. In FIFA 17 you have to HOLD the left stick in the direction you want the ball to go, very similar to shooting the ball during a game. If you let go of the stick the ball will just go to the side, usually out or straight at the keep, in both cases causing you to miss the penalty.

Shot Power – As always shot power is controlled by the “Circle” or “B” button depending what console you are playing on. This is mostly the same as last year, except it seems that the shot power is adjusted a bit, which means that unless you hold down the button for more than a second the ball won’t blast off into the stands UNLESS you aim it in that direction of course. The shot power SEEMS much more refined for both penalty kicks as well as shooting this year in Fifa 17. EA have also removed that bar you had to aim right in the middle for to get the perfect penalty.

The penalty system seems largely hit or miss in that some people like it and some don’t. I think that this new penalty system in Fifa 17 is for the better and I’ll tell you why, First it feels more realistic. Since there is no bar where you have to get it in the green ”safe” zone anymore, this year taking penalties doesn’t feel as much as a mini game as compared to previously.

This year in Fifa 17 you have to think about taking penalties much more naturally as though you are just running up to the ball to shoot it into the net. My advice would be to not worry too much about the Run up to the ball mechanic as much. I found that the majority of the time if I left the player in his default starting position, they would be able to score the penalty as long as I got the direction and power right.

The MORE important change is to get the direction JUST right, you cant move the left stick too far to one side as that will make the ball go out, but you cant have it too much in the center or it’ll be easy picking for the keeper. You want to move the left analog stick just a bit in the direction you are aiming for and then let the power at which you hit the ball ensure it goes to the top or bottom corners.
I think the new penalty kick system is just one of the few ways in which EA is taking a step in the right direction. With that said I am really looking forward to the new Fifa 17 and all the changes it will bring to the game.

Below is a video showcasing the new penalty kick system and how taking penalties in FIFA 17 is different that Fifa 16 or previous years.

Let me know your thoughts on the new penalty system and what you think about it or if you’ve had a chance to try it out.

New Artifacts with abilities in Destiny Rise of Iron

What is in an artifact in Destiny?

Artifacts were added to Destiny in The Taken King expansion. They were supposed to provide extra value to players but instead turned out to be just another armor piece needed to boost ones overall Light Level.

Artifacts will be getting a complete overhaul and the new kinds of artifacts being released with the Rise of Iron will enable players to use certain abilities, which is probably much closer to the initial hopes Bungie had for artifacts in the first place.

There are 8 of these new artifacts for Rise of Iron and they are:

Memory of Radeghast – “The ability for your sword  to deflect    projectiles such as rockets as well as other things such  as ogre      blasts”

For PvE this could be a particularly fun artifact to use and can obviously come in handy in certain sticky situations. I wonder if “projectiles” ALSO include those annoying snipers. If that is the case I think this artifact is one of the first ones I would personally want to obtain.

For PvP, the ability to deflect rockets in Destiny is game changing, the question is whether it will be game breaking and I hope not. I hope that it’s implemented in such a way that it makes it more tactically effective without making rockets completely useless.

Memory of Perun – “The ability to highlight guardians  with full  super in yellow and guardians who are low on health in  red”

This one although not as exciting as the first one seems like a more PvP based artifact. Identifying which guardians have full super can definitely come in handy especially in certain games modes (Mayhem Clash) but even for regular Crucible matches. I feel like certain classes would benefit more from this than others. For example a Titan using this could identify a person with a super and then throw his ability nullifying grenade with more benefit as to randomly throwing it whenever it becomes available.

This artifact can also be used to identify if that menacing Titan is more likely running towards you to use his SUPER or shotgun you in the face.

Memory of Jolder – “Removes the Sprint cooldown completely”

Let it be known that I will be one of the first people to say that this one absolutely terrifies me. Just imagine the increase of people running around with shotguns or worse yet imagine the increase of people using the Titan shoulder charge ability. Some people actually think the opposite of this and say that there shouldn’t have been a sprint cooldown in the first place, but I think with the way Destiny works a sprint cooldown was definitely needed.

This one is definitely a bonus for those that love running and shot-gunning things in the face.

Memory of Silmar – “The ability to dramatically reduce  any  damage dealt by DoT(Damage over Time) effects.

Again this one is probably more influential for PvP as that is when you would need this artifact the most. Another troubling or good sign for some people is the mention of the Thorn in relation to this artifact, which could indicate the return of Thorn. I can see this being really helpful as there have been many occasions in PvP where I killed a person but was then burned to death by either their lingering grenade or super ability.

Memory of Felwinter – “Lose your super, but gain an additional grenade and melee and small boost to all stats. Orbs grant melee and grenade energy”

For PvE I don’t know if giving up your super is worth what you get in return especially certain classes such as Titan Defender as PvE modes rely heavily around the Titan defender bubble.

For PvP as well I am not sure if giving up your super is worth an additional grenade and melee unless you are they type of player to rarely use your super or you are playing a class where you can’t effectively use the Super well, I just don’t see people using this that much in PvP. Supers are just that handy and sometimes are game changing if used correctly and can be the difference between losing a game and winning one.

Another thing I am not sure is if this ability will stack with other grenade/melee increase perks such as Warlock Sunsinger double grenades or will it stack with armor such as The Armamentarium to give you a total of THREE grenades with then might be worth giving up your super for I will admit. A max discipline Warlock with not one, not two, but THREE sticky grenades can be a force to be reckoned with.

Memory of Gheleon – “The ability to gain a detailed radar at all times, including when aiming a Primary Weapon”

This already looks like one my favorite artifacts so far, because you are essentially getting two perks simultaneously. You get the detailed radar much like the current NightStalker keen scout perk which if you think about it can then be in conjunction with this artifact to use shadestep and you could use another exotic item (other than the one that provides shadestep) OR use the exotic to grant shadestep and use another perk thereby letting you use all THREE perks for the last column of the Nightstalker subclass.

The second is like the MIDA’s ability to keep your radar active while aimed in. Like many people in PvP, I myself use the MIDA quite often and it is often my go to gun when I am trying to win a game so this ability is definitely a welcome addition.

Memory of Skorri – “Speeds up super recharge for all nearby allies”

This one sounds pretty useful for PvE encounter such as raids and Nightfalls as your allies could potentially have a never ending super cycle as long as someone in your fireteam has this relic. That begs the question if this ability stacks with itself, as in what if everyone in your fireteam had this relic, would your super recharges 3 times as fast or even 6 times as fast? I hope not as this again could potentially be game breaking.

Again for PvP this relic can be quite useful as long as it is implemented correctly and if it IS only one instance of this ability that counts rather than stacking then one person would be left to play the “support” of the team.

Memory of Timur – “Melee attacks on low-powered enemies have a chance to make them an ally for 30 seconds”

This one seems to be only for PvE portion of the game obviously and in my opinion seems to be an extremely fun artifact to be able to use and I personally can’t wait to try this one out. Now obviously you can’t control a Major (yellow bar enemy) but it would still be pretty awesome to use on boomer knights or snipers or even regular wizards.

How to get an artifact in Destiny Rise of Iron?

Well after I showed you all the various new artifacts coming to Destiny Rise of Iron, many of you are probably wondering, well how DO you get the new artifacts and what do you need to do?

Even though there are 8 new Artifacts in total in the Rise of Iron, only 3 of them will be available at a time on a weekly basis. What this means is that three artifacts will be offered per week with a different rotation of artifacts being offered each week from the Vendor.

Players will have to do a weekly bounty that resets every Tuesday like most other weekly activities in Destiny. Upon completing these weekly bounties and all of the weekly quests, players will then earn a token which can be traded in for ONE of the three artifacts available for that week.

The Vendor’s name is Tyra Karn who gives out these weekly bounties as well as the Token for completing said bounties. Once you trade in the Token for an artifact you then need to activate the artifact with its corresponding Iron Lord. Each artifact is named after a previous member of the deceased Iron Lords and the abilities granted by the artifact is similar in nature to the corresponding Iron Lord’s power when they were still alive.

CONCLUSION

Some of these artifacts seem extremely interesting while others not so much. Either way at least artifacts now serve a slightly better purpose, other than just another armor slot needed to be filled up. Some of these perks have the potential to be game breaking even if they are not so I really hope Bungie implements them in the right way. I do think that the addition of these NEW artifacts is a good move by Bungie as it adds, not only a new dynamic to the game but also more purpose to the artifacts, rather than them being just a piece of armor you need to get. Other than that I can honestly say I am pretty excited for Rise of Iron, not just because of these new artifacts but just generally altogether.

What are your thoughts on these new artifacts soon to be introduced in Rise of Iron and which one looks to be your favorite? Let me know in the comments section below.

Destiny Calcified Fragment 10 ( X ) location

What are Calcified Fragments?

Calcified fragments are collectable items in Destiny Taken King. They are very similar to the collectable dead ghost from Vanilla Destiny. There are 50 Calcified fragments in total to be collected in The Taken King. Collecting Calcified fragments is part of a questline from Eris Morn and collecting your first fragment will activate this quest. The end of the quest requires you to collect 45 of the 50 Calcified fragments as well as completing other activates in order to obtain an Exotic Weapon called the Touch of Malice. The Touch of Malice is an Exotic Scout Rifle, quite unique to The Taken King expansion and definitely worth obtaining.

Each Calcified fragment has its own number and name and is tied to its respective Book of Sorrow. The book of sorrow is just lore pertaining to that particular Calcified fragment. Each Calcified Fragment is also worth a certain amount of Grimoire points ranging from 5 to 15.
Obtaining all 50 Calcified fragments is also one of the achievements for Year 2 Moments of Triumph in Destiny and will also unlock the Beltane Armor Shader.

Where are the Calcified fragments located?

Most of the Calcified fragments are located in the Dreadnaught. While some of the Calcified Fragments can be located while walking around on patrol, others require completing certain events or quests on the Dreadnaught.

Where is Calcified Fragment X (10) located?

Ok, so how to find Calcified fragment number ten on the Dreadnaught? Quite simply all you have to do for this one is head to the Dreadnaught on patrol. Calcified Fragment 10 – Immortals is located in the Hall of Souls on the Dreadnaught, if you have no idea where that is, that’s ok I’ll explain.

As soon as you land on the Dreadnaught at the Hull Breach on patrol look to your right and you will see some debris that looks like platforms or stairs. You want to turn right AROUND this debris and head in that direction. For those of you familiar with the Dreadnaught, you are heading in the direction of the Court of Oryx

Once you turn right, head straight through the doorway/entrance and then turn right again into a winding circular passage

Keep heading down the passage till you reach an area called the Hall of Souls on the Dreadnaught.
Once you reach the Hall of Souls, you are going to stick to your left side and head straight past 2 platforms.

Once you reach the edge of a second platform you will see a pillar straight ahead and to your left a bit. You are going to jump on this pillar.

Once you are on the pillar turn left and you will see 2 platforms ahead of you, you are again going to jump to these platforms.

You want to get to the second platform which is slightly higher up. There will be a Boomer Knight stationed there usually shooting at you, that’s how you know you are headed in the right direction.

Once you get to the second platform, keep going straight ahead toward the other end of the platform and you will notice a doorway on your left. Enter this doorway

Once you enter this doorway you will see a small entrance/passage to your bottom right. You are going to enter this. You might have to crouch to get in there.

Keep going through this passage and you will come to a big room with another passage entrance on the left towards the far side of the room. Enter this passage.

Keep going down the passage until you hit a crossroads, which will split up in 2 paths. On the path to your right you will see a passage with a chest, you DO NOT want to go there. Instead look to your left a you will see ANOTHER passage, this is the passage you want to enter

As soon as you enter this passage, you should see Calcified Fragment 10 to your bottom right wedged into the wall.

That’s it, you’ve found Calcified #10. This Fragment is a little trickier to get to but still relatively easy as long as you follow the instructions.

If you do not see the fragment, either you are in the wrong area OR you have already gotten the Fragment with the character you are currently using. One way to check if you got the Fragment with your current character is by using Destiny Tracker.

If you were not able to follow the instructions above or for some reason got lost along the way, I have included a video below showing you exactly how to get to Calcified Fragment #10 starting from the Hullbreach/Patrol on the Dreadnaught.

I am still working on collecting all 50 fragments for one of my characters before Rise of Iron is released in order to try and complete the Year 2 Moments for Triumph achievement. I will post articles for the other Calcified Fragment locations as I progress through collecting them myself.

Destiny Calcified Fragment 9 ( IX ) location

Where is Calcified Fragment IX (9) located?

Ok, so how to find Calcified fragment number nine on the dreadnaught? Quite simply all you have to do for this one is head to the dreadnaught on patrol. Calcified Fragment 9 – The Bargain is located in the near the Hull Breach as soon as you spawn on the Dreadnaught, if you have no idea where that is, that’s ok I’ll explain.

Calcified Fragment 9 is extremely easy to get and is very close to where you spawn on the Hull Breach.
As soon as you spawn on the Dreadnaught, look straight ahead and to your left a bit and you should see a crashed Cabal ship. That is the direction you want to head towards

Once you get closer to the ship you will notice some debris to your left that looks like two rocks or pillars leaning together. They will be closer to the ground

Calcified Fragment 9 is wedged in between these two rocks/pillars and should be fairly easy to spot as you get closer to the Cabal ship and or the rocks.

That’s it, you’ve found Calcified #9. This Fragment is probably THE easiest Calcified Fragment you will find on the Dreadnaught.

If you do not see the fragment, either you are in the wrong area OR you have already gotten the Fragment with the character you are currently using. One way to check if you got the Fragment with your current character is by using Destiny Tracker.

Destiny Calcified Fragment 8 ( VIII ) location

Where is Calcified Fragment VIII (8) located?

Ok, so how to find Calcified fragment number eight on the Dreadnaught? Quite simply all you have to do for this one is head to the Dreadnaught on patrol. Calcified Fragment 8 – Leviathan is located in the near the Hull Breach as soon as you spawn on the Dreadnaught, if you have no idea where that is, that’s ok I’ll explain.

Calcified Fragment 8 is extremely easy to get and is very close to where you spawn on the Hull Breach, but will require you to put your jumping skills to the test. Even then this isn’t a particularly hard jumping puzzle and most people should be able to get the fragment with relative ease using ANY class.

Once you land on the Dreadnaught in Patrol, look immediately to your right and you will see debris that looks like broken platforms or stairs.

Your goal is to get to the topmost platform.

My only tip for getting there is to try and just jump to one platform at a time for maximum ease and effort. Also it is slight easier if you jump from platform to platform using the edges rather than from the middle, at least it was for me.

One other thing you need to worry about is not overshooting the jump from platform to platform, but even then the worst that can happen is you fall off and would have to start over again.

Once you get to the topmost platform, Calcified Fragment 8 will be located at the bottom right corner, towards the end of the platform closer to the wall

That’s it, you’ve found Calcified #8. This Fragment is probably one of the easiest fragments you will find on the Dreadnaught.

If you do not see the fragment, either you are in the wrong area OR you have already gotten the Fragment with the character you are currently using. One way to check if you got the Fragment with your current character is by using Destiny Tracker.

Where is Calcified Fragment VII (7) located?

Ok, so how to find Calcified fragment number six on the dreadnaught? Quite simply all you have to do for this one is head to the dreadnaught on patrol. Calcified Fragment 7 – The Dive is located in the near the Hull Breach as soon as you spawn on the Dreadnaught, if you have no idea where that is, that’s ok I’ll explain.

Once you land on the Dreadnaught in Patrol, walk straight ahead a bit then take an immediate left. Once you go left you will see a bunch of broken debris, jump down to it.

Once you jump down you will see some broken pipes and more debris, again just jump down over the pipes and debris.

Once you have jumped down past the broken pipes and all the debirs, turn around a 180 degrees and you will notice an entrance/doorway. This is where you want to go.

Once you go inside you will follow a passage to a room that splits up left and right, turn left.

Once you turn left you will see a few canisters/containers, again turn left towards the one that is in the corner.

As you approach this container look down to your left besides the container.

Calcified Fragment # 7 will be wedged into the wall to the bottom left of the container/canister.

That’s it, you’ve found Calcified Fragment #7. This Fragment might seem harder to get as it is located in somewhat of a hidden location, but it is still relatively easy to obtain if you follow the instructions above.

If you do not see the fragment, either you are in the wrong area OR you have already gotten the Fragment with the character you are currently using. One way to check if you got the Fragment with your current character is by using Destiny Tracker.

Each Calcified fragments has its own number and name and is tied to its respective Book of Sorrow.

Where is Calcified Fragment VI (6) located?

Ok, so how to find Calcified fragment number six on the Dreadnaught? Quite simply all you have to do for this one is head to the Dreadnaught on patrol. Calcified Fragment 6 – Sisters is located in the near the Hull Breach on the Dreadnaught, if you have no idea where that is, that’s ok I’ll explain.

Once you land on the Dreadnaught in Patrol take the path that is slightly to the right.

Once you get to the end of the path you will see a doorway / entrance on your left. Do NOT head that was as that will take you to the Mausoleum and that is not where we want to go. If you instead head towards the RIGHT of the doorway to the very corner you will see a much smaller darker doorway. This is where you want to go.

Once inside look to your left and you will see a small entrance in the ground. You might have to crouch to enter this passage. Once you go inside keep going straight ahead to another small passage entrance on the other side of the room.

Once you enter this passage keep going till you come to somewhat of a crossroads. There will be one path to your right and one directly to your left. Take the one to your left and continue along the path until you come to an opening with a chest.

If you look PAST the chest you will see ANOTHER small opening that you can go through, so head through there.

As you head through this opening you will again come to a crossroads with a path to your right and a path that is somewhat straight ahead and to your left a bit.

Take the one that is straight ahead and to your left. As you keep going you will come to a big room.

You need to enter the room and go to the left side of this room and look at the far wall straight ahead.

You should see Calcified Fragment 6 on the far wall closer to the ground.

That’s it, you’ve found Calcified Fragment #6. This Fragment might seem harder to get as you have to go through a few passages to get to it, but it is still relatively easy to obtain if you follow the instructions above.

If you do not see the fragment, either you are in the wrong area OR you have already gotten the Fragment with the character you are currently using. One way to check if you got the Fragment with your current character is by using Destiny Tracker.

If you were not able to follow the instructions above or for some reason got lost along the way, I have included a video below showing you exactly how to get to Calcified Fragment #6 starting from the Hullbreach/Patrol on the Dreadnaught.

I am still working on collecting all 50 fragments for one of my characters before Rise of Iron is released in order to try and complete the Year 2 Moments for Triumph achievement. I will post articles for the other Calcified Fragment locations as I progress through collecting them myself.
